Are you feeling stuck and needing help with your client cases? Obtaining your required CRPO supervision hours? Or maybe you’re a student in practicum looking for a clinical supervisor? Looking for a therapist with extensive experience working with trauma and complex adult clinical presentations? Look no further!
Whether you’re a new therapist learning the ropes for the first time, or a more advanced therapist looking for consultation, my passion is to work collaboratively with you to support and help you thrive in your clinical growth journey. Examples of supervision I provide include case consultations; case conceptualizations; treatment planning; discussions of therapeutic models and approaches; skill building conversations; discussions of ethics and CRPO Standards of Practice; cultural competency; self-care and boundary setting for therapists; and exploration of transference and counter-transference issues.
The field of psychology and helping people have always been my passions, and I’ve also been blessed to discover throughout my career that mentoring others is also a passion of mine! My favorite part of being a clinical supervisor is when I get to see you grow in your skills and confidence levels as a clinician and when I can help guide you in discovering what you truly enjoy doing within this vast field.
I believe it is an important privilege to supervise others and I know, having been a supervisee myself, that it can be a little intimidating! My goal and commitment to you is to provide you with a safe and compassionate environment where you can feel able to open-up, explore your interests, develop your skills, and work through any challenges you may be facing in your learning journey.
I graduated from Yorkville University in 2013 with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I began working at Upstream Counselling as a clinical supervisor in January 2023. However, my career as a registered psychotherapist began long before this time.
I first entered the mental health field as a therapy client in my adolescence when I experienced my own personal challenges with depression, anxiety, trauma, suicide and self-harm. After a few trials, I found a therapist I clicked with and experienced first-hand the transformative healing power of simply feeling heard and validated in my pain. This experience sparked my passion for the field of psychology to give back to others what was given to me. My mental health treatment saved my life.
Fast forward through my post-secondary education, I’ve been now working in the mental health field for the past 13 years and have had the privilege to work in various clinical settings; with individuals of all walks of life; and a wide variety of complex clinical presentations. I began my career as a psychotherapist within the telehealth field, providing short-term counselling and crisis intervention support by telephone and instant messaging.
I learned early on in my career that I had a strong interest in working with trauma-related clinical presentations. Therefore, I eventually progressed to the field of corrections and worked as a psychometrist with male and female inmates within a medium to maximum security setting. Within this role, I wore multiple hats which included providing individual and group therapy services; crisis interventions; completing diagnostic interviews and report writing; completing mental health status assessments; and providing supervision to students… to name a few.
My career trajectory has since shifted to working within an outpatient specialized trauma-based mental health treatment program where I continue to work as a psychometrist, mainly with trauma-related clinical presentations, providing both psychotherapy and psychological assessment services (under the supervision of clinical psychologists).
